Kamen rider remake

Hi there, is everyone doing okay? Great! I would like to start a new fan fiction project here since it's almot the 40th aniversery of Kamen Rider, a fan remake of the original series. It's based more on Ishinomori's ideas from the manga and Shin Kamen Rider, where the hero was a tragic monster. So it's going to be dark and gritty. any ideas about plots, settings, characters, or writing is greatly appricated, hell, I am will to have a co-author. Here's a quick profile from the Shocker archives to tide you over.

Level 3 genetic remodeling- Hongo's DNA has been altered by removing certain harmful or unnecessary genes. This removes any genetic diseases and greatly strengthens his immune system. In addition, we used retro-viruses containing locust DNA to further remodel and enhance the body's structure and organs. His speed, reflexes, dexterity and agility have improved as a result due to improved conductivity of the nervous system, giving him great acrobatic abilities. In addition his metabolism has also been enhanced, giving him a minor healing factor when combined with implant <CENSORED>.

Muscle enhancements: Hongo's muscle density has been boosted thanks to a combination of steroids and the DNA enhancement. Artificial fibers are interwoven This gives him the strength to 10-12 men alongside improved durability.

Sensory augmentation: A combination of the genetic remolding and cybernetics allowed for a sharp increase in senses. Hongo's eyesight has improved by a factor of 4 times beyond human perfection, allowing for improved clarity and perfect night vision. His hearing is now off the charts and implants on the inner ear were necessary to control it; theoretically he can even hear ultrasound. His sense of touch is also enhanced giving him a strong awareness of what's around him. Smell and taste have improved but not by much.

Power arm and jump leg: We have removed much of the original organic forearms hands, feet, and lower legs and substituted them with bionic counterparts. The cybernetic power arms and hands not only add extra strength to punches, but the hydraulic tendons and metal hands give Hongo a grip strength several times greater than normal humans. The jump legs are a combination of springs and shock absorbers to not only aid in jumping but better prepare him for landings. He can fall 20 stories and land on his feet easily. Also he can jump 25 meters straight up and 40 meters in a long jump.

Cybernetic cardiovascular system: The artificial heart has proven to be much stronger and more resilient than Hongo's original heart. The improvements to blood flow and thus nutrient transportation allow for a great increase in endurance. In addition the arteries and blood vessels have been cleaned cleaned of all cholesterol and given an artifical coating on the inside to prevent any build up, stopping any blockage. Two cloned kidneys have been implanted into Hongo's body for better blood filtering. Added to this are the artificial lungs which gather and store oxygen more efficiently than organic counterparts. Part of these lungs include storage tanks which take recycled oxygen and allows Hongo to operate in low-oxygen environments, underwater, or even in a vacuum for 30 minutes.

Artificial stomach: Replacing the original stomach, this copy-made from special plastics and metals to resist the corrosive acid-breaks down food much more efficiently, and lowers the amount of body fat that is produced by 30%.

Skeletal enhancement: The remainder of Hongo's skeleton has been improved with light-weight metal plating all over. The plating has a special membrane to continue the production of white blood cells. In order to improve the immune system, fresh cloned bone marrow is directly inserted into the bones.

Micro-nuclear generator(Codename:"Typhoon"):Hongo source of power for his cybernetics and battle mode. Worn like a belt, the main turbine is in the middle(like a belt buckle). The belt contains the nano-material for the Rider Armor

Armor: Made from <CLASSIFIED> the armor forms across Hongo's body using special nano-machines inside the Typhoon belt at the command "Rider Henshin!" The material is highly resistant to bullets, fire, and low grade explosives.
The Armor includes:

Mask: The specilized lenses of the mask are polarizedin order to improve night vison and contain a specized HUD system that's capable of zoomig in on far a way targets up to 15m away and can switch to an infrared view. The attenea on the mask gives Hongo a weak echolocation ability and can intercept and transmit radio waves.
Crusher: Specalized mouthpiece, able to open with Hongo's own mouth to bite down on anything with superhuman strength.
Rider scarf: Made of a specialized memory material, the scarf can stiffen and expand lightly if Hongo wills it. Can be used to catch thermals and slow Hongo down if he is falling, alowing him to glide.
Boots and gloves: Made of a special conductive material, the gloves and boots can be covered with a powerful electric charge from hidden generators in the Power Arms and Jump Legs. These charges multiply the strength of a punch or kick by a factor of 3-4.

hey everyone! I was wondering, should Hongo's armor literaly be his own skin that changes into armor when he henshin's (like in the original manga, which means he would have to take off his clothes) or just be nano-generated armor. Also, anyone want to join in the project?

hey Ryu, love the descriptions, very detail
though you might want to try to keep it simple at some parts, just thinking that some of this dont really play a part with character development

regarding the armor, seeing that he has both biological and technological enhancements, it would make sense that he has either, so just go for what you like best

Instead of nano material then, I will have Hongo's skin be completly artificial from the neck down. It would be actually be a memory plastic that strengthens and changes color when power from the Typhoon is chanelled through it, turing it into the iconic armor. This means he would change underneath his clothes and would put the mask on. As a battle goes on his clothes would be destroyed revealing the armor underneath.

Another idea: Should Kamen Rider have blades on his forarms, lower legs ala Amazon/Shin?

Hi everybody, I am back, and I have come up with several great ideas for Shocker. It came to me while I was reading about the Dues Ex game series and a fanfiction(won't say the name, don't want to get sued) Anyway, my idea is that Shocker believes in Transhumanism (see: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Transhumanism). The idea is that they want to improve the human race as a species WITH SCIENCE, making them into a new species, hence all the augmented humans they create (in the original series, if they succedded with using their super soldiers to conquer the world what would they do with them after?) Takashi is a intern to Prof. Midowaka who is (unknown to takashi) a high level scientist in the organization, who feels that humans should have a choice whether or not they want to be "improved". Shocker thinks that the best way to improve society is to do it by force. I'll get to this another time but the point is I wanted to give a reason for the whole "evil organization wants to take over the world" sthick and make Shocker a group of Well intentioned extriemest with some....poor... ethics. The Shocker commandos will get a makeover inspired by the faceless mooks in this fan comic: http://www.art-engineer.de/engl/sink_engl.html#. Basically, they will be artifially created worker drones designed to do menial tasks, and are more durable than normal humans, needing a good headshot to really kill them (or rip them limb from limb with super strength if that works ). What do you all think?

Hmm. I think you're limiting yourself by doing it as a "remake" series. Not to mention how ill received remakes are. Besides the orginal series already has a remake (Kamen Rider: the First). Anyways, doing transhumanistic biopunk is more Heisei than Showa.

His senses are still pretty weak. He should be on par with bird eyesight (including seeing in UV and IF spectrums) and the hearing of a canine. Tremor sense is cool. His olfactor should allow him to do a quick chemical analyst.

Replacing the arms and legs kind makes the muscle augmentation pointless. Not to meantion it weakens him. Cybernetic limbs are too limiting compared to a bioaugment replacement.

Artificial lungs with air storage. Why not just put some sort bioengineered geothermal algae in your artificial and then make it part of the digestive system so it gets food and energy from your character. That way he has no need to breath at all.

As for the armor. You should use a carbon nanotube mesh which he can hide under his clothes. Give it magnetic reactive abilities so it only has to cover up vital areas when not henshin. Over the mesh should be armor made of a special material that can be easily converted into energy or matter. Have this armor placed in a storage device like a flash drive. The belt could probably serve as an energy matter converter. This could even give him other armor forms including a High Speed armor, a Heavy Armor, etc. His normal clothes could be made of a simular material so when he summons his armor he de-summons his clothes at the same time.

You don't need to give the accessories special abilities. Though I do like the idea that the gloves and boots (guantlets and greaves would be cooler) give him a power punch and kick. Also, you don't need to slow down the fall of a Kamen Rider. Kamen Riders are heroes, they can survive any distance of a fall. Plus hit the ground and making a crator is cooler than landing lightly.

Blade, you don't really need blades when you have a high voltage punch. Maybe if you were to use my armor idea you could make it apart of the High Speed form.

Making "Shocker" into a large group like that would make things more interesting. Though the "evil Shocker" shouldn't be the main stream, just the most active side of this "secret" organization.

I like some of your ideas, but let me explain my logic. I often like seeing how a new generation interprets an older generation's previous work, and I always had a fondness for the first of something, the start of a grand tradition if you will. Hence That is why I am using Hongo Takashi. And you are telling me human enhancement in general isn't Showa enough? (besides it's both cybernetic and bio enhancements) On the other hand I am taking Kamen rider into 2011 so I took a liberty (also not all remakes are bad, look at Batman Begins) Still some of your ideas have some merit, for example, I might nix the full artificial lungs (current ones in the real world are too big to be realistically miniaturize... yet) and place an storage tank and some of that artificial algae you mentioned(where did you come up with that anyway?) into the the lungs( I remember seeing a poster that had a lung with artificial components inside so it's not much of a stretch). Also I found out insects have sensitive senses of smell, so I will give Takashi that also. I can say his eyesight would be like an eagle's, and he can focus on an object 1/2 mile away ala superman. My original idea was too have the forearms, hands, feet, and lower legs reinforced with artificial components, with the upper arms and legs enhanced organically for lifting power(his muscle power would be equal to a grasshopper leg muscle power). As for the armor, I like the idea of a mesh hidden on his body that appears at a moments notice, and the mask will be hidden inside the belt, when he transforms, he takes the mask out, it expands, and he puts it on. I won't have him change forms though, too Heisei. And energy-to-matter conversion and vice versa (and off course all of his clothes having such a property) it's too out there. I suppose the blades are an unnecessary thing at this point, but I had this idea of Kamen Rider cutting his opponents to ribbons ala Amazon or Shin. But then again I am going for a somewhat more realistic interpretation here, so it wouldn't make any logical sense other than it being cool.

After long thinking, I now know how I want the tone of this series to go. I was mainly inspired by the original series, a bit of THE FIRST, ZO, Shin, and Black. Let me pitch it to you. As the series starts, Takashi is a biochemist working in a think tank working on endeavors to improve the human body. One of the members is his mentor, Prof. Midowaka. Hongo is in love with the prof's daughter Rumiko who he has been friends with since childhood, though his quiet nature has prevented him from getting past the friends stage. She seems to be in love with Hongo's long time friend Ichimonji Hayato.
During his tenure at the think tank, Hongo helps in the creation of a new retro-virus that can not only be used to repair genetic damage, but even add genetic data, even from other species! Hongo is given much credit for the discovery. Everyone is excited on how the virus, combined with their extensive work on cybernetic implants, will improve humanity. Some weeks later, Rumiko and Hayato inform Takashi that during their reporting on a Yakuza gang war distribution of a new illegal steroid, they discover that one of the people who died in the conflict was actually someone who volunteered his time at the tank to be experimented on for genetic enhancements. He was said to have killed ten men in the conflict bare handed before being shot down, though there was no official statement from the police on the matter. This surprises Takashi, as he knew the person involved, and wasn't aware that he was released, much less that the enhancements needed for such a feat was much more extensive than what was officially reported. Curious, the three do a little investigating though so far nothing came up. One night Hongo was alone with Midowaka doing some routine checking of computer systems when Takashi finds some unusual files on an unauthorized server on the premise. Not only does he discover that the person involved in the conflict was willing sent to a Yakuza gang, sold off as a new member, to test his enhancements, but the steroid that was hitting the streets came from earlier experiments done in the institute. He takes his findings to Midowaka and then starts to call Rumiko about his discovery, but before he can say anything after she answers, wack! Last thing Takashi sees is Professor Midowaka before falling unconscious... more to come.
