Den-O characters tend to have a 'funny mode' and a 'serious mode'. (This is most apparent with Ryutaros, but it kind of applies to everybody.) Maybe this person just preferred the 'serious mode' characterizations.

When it comes to me and the Den-O characters, what I enjoyed were their personalities, development, and interactions. whether silly or serious, the characters played off each other which made for good relationships and kept things interesting. And it's not just me that thinks so. Obviously, the people of Japan thought so too, because the Taros' Seiyu won the Synergy Award at the 2nd Seiyu Awards back in March 2008

For me, Den-O is one of those series that has something that will appeal to almost everybody -- plenty of action, comedy and awesome toys to keep the kids watching, engaging characters and themes to interest older fans of the franchise, and copious amounts of eye candy ( female AND male! ) for the parents x] 'course there are people that won't like it anyway, but that's why I said ALMOST everybody, haha. W kinda works on the same principle, though it's a smidge darker than Den-O was in comparison; not GRIMDARK, I mean, but when the first episode opens with Sokichi getting gunned down ... yeah.
In any case, it's knowing how to combine those elements to make it appeal to all sorts of fans, and it worked really well. I'm not surprised at all by these spinoffs, I just don't want Toei to completely spread W thin like it has with Den-O ( their movies are enjoyable on their own merits, but releasing them so fast and the continuity snarls and actor changeovers fngnjkggf. )

This is a Double thread.
And how often do people get side-tracked in any thread? This kind of thing is expected to happen, and often. Best not to let it bother you, especially when there's nothing new or noteworthy that hasn't already been discussed.

I dislike Den-O. Let's stick to Double. We can't go wrong there.

Just because you don't like something doesn't mean everyone else can't talk about it =/ *waits for the anticipated response of "This is a W thread not a Den-O thread"*
Honestly, if you don't have something meaningful to input into the conversation, or if the conversation isn't going down a bad trail, then there's no reason to butt in and tell everyone to get back on topic, especially if there's nothing to discuss about the current topic at this point in time.

Hold your horses people. Toei wouldn't let go of Den-O until they give it a final sendoff(this time to the Cho Den-O series, which the trilogy definitely wasn't). and to me, it would be criminal to end the series without a return of Takeru Sato as Ryotaro and the return of Liner Form
Very true.

The irony is that you have nothing "meaningful to input into the conversation." :loltongue:
So yes, this is a Double thread. :supersayin:

Well, it's normal in all threads of HJU to get side tracked when there's no new info about the show...

Figure Ou says that both of the movies are roughly 50 minutes each. While the official website says 60 minutes each.
Might be a typo in Figure Ou.

This is a very intuitive format for W spinoffs. Each special is probably going to watch like a commercial-free W arc that just happens to focus on that particular character.

This would make an awesome wallpaper. Maybe the official website counts the credits while Figure Ou doesn't.

>Disregard X while I put forth my own opinions about Y
Geeze, and you think with all this spinoff love that Den-O and now Double is getting, they'd do some spinoff movies about the other series
Like maybe Ryuki.....
~sigh~ A man can dream..........

At first I was going to say that wouldn't be a good idea but they still have all of those unused survive forms and that second Raia form. I would freaking love to see all of those come to play

Whats up with Decade?:eyebrow: I wish they would give him a spin off movie with OOO's. W was a awesome series but I wish they would give Decade some more play. Maybe in 2011.

Why Decade? He already upset Rider fans. People like Double.

I feel the same way too, but there's a lot of people who are still butt hurt over how Decade wound up to the point where they wished that it never existed. However we might see him again in the 40th anniversary movie.

I'm going to call you and your buddies on it. You really just say someone's "butthurt" when you have nothing. It's pathetic.

I find it funny that Skull got a movie treatment rather than a straight to DVD. Maybe Skull was the first one planned but then turned into a movie?
Maybe he is more popular? I would love to have a Eternal movie that shows Daido's past before he turned corrupted after modifying into a NEVER.
Maybe even him using a purified first generation Eternal memory to combat Foundation X and NEVER soldiers as a anti-hero (But is generally a good guy) but in a last heroic act he dies and gets turned into a NEVER himself?

Well the epilouge in Movie Wars was rather open ended, sort of suggesting that they might continue on with the series
I really don't want to see anymore of Decade though, Movie Wars kind of ruined the series as a whole for me for reasons that I'd rather not go into

I find it funny that Skull got a movie treatment rather than a straight to DVD.
I get the feeling that Skull was planned from the beginning to be W's "movie exclusive" Rider who was only shown in films and merely alluded to in the series. I believe Eternal was probably planned the same way, so W could have an "evil Rider" character without forcing the TV show to do an "evil Rider" arc.
Planning the characters like this means that W fans who watch the movies get to see major enhancements to the plot and a bigger view of the setting, but fans who don't want to watch the movies aren't screwed out of anything they need to understand if they want to enjoy the series.
Maybe he is more popular?
Skull is pretty popular, but I suspect it was planned that Skull's story would be revealed to us this way from the beginning. He basically gets two 30 minute movies that tell us everything worth knowing about him. That's... about an episode's worth of material!
With Eternal, they probably just never intended to put him in more than one film as a bad guy. So if you're going to do something that's really just his optional backstory for die-hard fans, doing it in more TV-like format makes sense. I doubt there's more than 60 minutes you can get out of that subject.

That's just it, Decade didn't turned out the way people expected to. Which is why some of them are still bitter about it.

I never expected Decade to turn out any particular way, but I did hope for something that basically made sense. The Decade ending in Movie Wars 2010 is incoherent and both TV endings are laughable.
