They're more fun than brooding, stoic, angsty Reds who take themselves too seriously - ShinkenRed, BoukenRed, even GaoRed

I can see the next Red perhaps being like a bit more like Alata: slightly less childish, carefree, but very determined when it's time to fight

Say what? IMO, I think he did, while trying to be more relaxed, etc., at the same time. I don't know about anyone else, but I also tend to like "serious" characters like BoukenRed, & ShinkenRed; they seem to fit my personality. I like other characters that can be goofy, but don't go too overboard, like GekiRed, DekaRed, or Go-On Red. Like, try to be like Alata & be serious, as well as funny; etc., at the same time.

they are actually, except Black (he's 19 this year) but even the locals thought they were all younger than 20. I dunno what's the issue with their looks. is it seriously a bad thing to look young even when you're in your 20s?

It does when you need to be taken seriously, and none of the rangers in Goseiger look serious enough to be rangers, let alone heroes. I want my rangers to look like Ryo, Matoi, Yuri, Sasuke, Sekai, Geki, Nagisa, Banba, Mikoto, etc.

No matter how I look, the cast of Goseiger definitely look like in they are in their early 20s...:redface2:

That is the point though. Killing off a character you get attached to makes it tragic. We haven't had a ranger death since AbaRanger (Rio and Mele weren't rangers), which was what, 8 years ago? We need a friggin ranger to die without being resurrected in the next episode. What happened to the days when Toei was not afraid to kill off a main character? I mean, they did it to Burai, Mikoto, Sandayu (although, he wasn't a ranger), Naoto, so what are they playing it safe so suddenly?

Kain I partly agree with you, I think to be taken seriously you have to have the look, but more importantly play the part. Believe it or not, as kiddish as Chiba looks, I can still take him seriously because, when he's furious I believe it. It's ultimately the way you portray your character.

This is something Toei did when it was en vogue to kill off characters in most Japanese pop entertainment. Super Sentai at its darkest had nothing on the truly apocalyptic amounts of character death you'd routinely see in anime and manga throughout the 80s and even into the 90s.

Super Sentai doesn't kill characters often now because anime and manga generally don't, either. It's fallen out of favor with mainstream Japanese audiences, who tend to find "excessively" tragic story beats maudlin and uninteresting. Things have been like that for about a decade or so.

So Toei is going to do Super Sentai as escapist light comedy with adventure aspects until the trends change again, pretty much. There's no telling when that will happen but I figure we're due for a trend refresh sometime in the next five years.

Hey guys, just want to let you all know that I've went online just now and found the possible cast for our Gokaiger in the year 2011. Again, if the cast has already been posted, please disregard this. Also, I am bringing up the first rumored cast for 2011 as well. With that said in mind here is the rumored Gokaiger Cast starting with the latest rumored cast:

ゴーカイブルー / 青木龍太郎 Ryutaro Aoki
ゴーカイイエロー / 池田純 Jun Ikeda
ゴーカイグリーン / 小阪風真 Kaito Kosaka

And here's the original rumored Cast:

Red: 桜田通 (Dori Sakurada) / Yellow: 入来茉里 (Mari Iriki) / Green: 野口征吾 (Seigo Noguchi)

Because of the second rumored cast coming up, the two of the actors from the original rumored cast have been marked out and as far as I'm concerned are no longer considered a rumor cast member for Gokaiger.

Again, keep this as a rumor and I'll promise to update you more as soon as I can.

BTW, I've entering myself into the JET program for 2011, so if I get in, I'll be in Japan hoping to get a chance to see next year's Super Sentai.
