I came across this article (http://news.asianweek.com/news/view_article.html?article_id=518aa7b1dfc9965d497a7 786db48abe3&this_category_id=171) while reading up on a movie coming out (Memoirs of a Geisha) . I'm not a Power Rangers fan and don't frequent this part of the forums so I don't know if this article was already posted before. If it was my apologizies.

Go, Go Power Rangers

Yin-Yang with Lisa Lee, Sep 02, 2005

LONESOME LEUNG … He’s been called “the Asian Clark Gable,” but leading man Tony Leung still sees himself as a loner who grew up with a Super-8 camera. The H.K.-based actor frequently isolates himself in his yacht, and always exercises alone.

Now Tony has also 86-ed his lover of 12 years, 2046 supporting actress Carina Lau. Girls, there may soon be an open-call for a new Florence Nightingale to brighten his day.

15 SECONDS … Former Miss Tampa beauty queen Ann Poonkasem may have missed the money boat on NBC’s Who Wants to be a Hilton?, but the self-described “Siam Superstar” is definitely milking the teat on her 15 seconds of reality TV fame.

Ann recently received top billing at Seattle’s ELao Rock-n-Diva Concert, whamming crowds at the Asian Resource Center with her hip-hop-flavored vocals and belly-chained, rock hard abs.

CAVE IN FOR A CAMEO … Critics are booing sci-fi suspense thriller The Cave, comparing the acting to “a panel of underwear models” playing doctor, but you know what? Paying the eight bucks for the matinee will definitely be worth seeing Daniel Dae Kim playing intrepid documentary videographer Alex Kim in Romania’s Carpathian Mountains –– even for a few minutes before the hottie gets gobbled up by a freaky monster.

ASIAN RANGERS

Fox Kids Network’s Power Rangers series seems to be the launching point for many an Asian American actor’s career by employing handsome hapas as the almighty Blue Ranger.

Archie Kao, for instance, played Kai Chen, the Blue Galaxy Ranger, and now appears in CSI: Crime Scene Investigation as Archie Johnson on CBS.

Archie has his own action figure, a high publicity TV gig and was recently spotted whooping it up at Hugh Hefner’s 75th birthday party at the Playboy Mansion.

Mighty Morphin Power Rangers (seasons 1-3): Johnny Yong Bosch played Adam Park/Black Ranger, Thuy Trang was Trini Kwan/Yellow Ranger. Thuy died in a fatal car accident caused by actor Dustin Nguyen’s wife, Angela, in 2001.

Power Rangers Zeo (1996): Johnny continued as Adam Park/Green Ranger.

Power Rangers Turbo (1997): Johnny as the Green Ranger, he now has a band named Eyeshine.

Power Rangers in Space (1998): Patricia Ja Lee was Cassie Chan/Pink Ranger, and is pursuing her doctorate degree in psychology.

Power Rangers Lightspeed Force (2000): Michael Chaturantabut played Chad Lee/Blue Ranger, and is a full-time workout celebrity and fitness trainer.

Power Rangers Time Force (2001): Michael Copon played Lucas Kendall.

Power Rangers Ninja Storm (2003): Jason Chan played Cam Watanabe/Green Samurai. Ranger, and is now a doctor. Samoan star Pua Magasiva played the Red Ranger and now tackles New Zealand TV screens as Nurse Vinnie Kruse.

I didn't know Lucas was asian.... although I guess it was pretty clear, now that I think of it. For some reason, I thought he was hispanic.

I found out the easiest way to make fun of a Filipino(not disrespect to any of you guys) is to ask them if they know where babies come from. My best friend is Filipino(was born there and came over here), and I tease him about that alll the time. There was an article on fark.com that said that 40% of all filipino's don't know where babies come from. We thought it was hillarious. My friend is also the man who got me hooked on sentai...and understands Mikey Joe's name....
