The original series is so awesome that the picture will magically extend itself on both sides when it goes to HD to keep the proper aspect ratio! Or not. I hope they don't botch it.
Rips would be great, since the Blu-Ray version probably won't be out for a while now and finding good rips of the DVDs are harder than frozen chocolate. But I'm excited about this! A bunch of the old Rider shows need digital clean-ups, since the DVDs were largely LD transfers and some still look like the same tired, washed-out prints that have been around for years. The original series got one of the better clean-up jobs, but there's still plenty of work they could do with it.
Too bad Toei channel is like 16 bucks a month in addition to the cost of Sky Perfect TV...
That is so sad.:disappoin Now with that and KRDK airing there, looks like 2009 is the best Toku year for Kamen Rider.
Toei Channel TV=Kamen Rider and Kamen Rider Dragon Knight
TV Asahi=Kamen Rider Decade (Before W aired) and now W.
Makes 4 Kamen Riders in one year.
WOW! PERFECT AWESOMENESS!!!:castlerock: :buttrock: :megarock:

Hmmph!
Lets see how the Den-O fans say now. If it turns out that the Showa Riders turn out to be better than the newer ones like Den-O, Kiva and Decade.

If the HD version keeps the series' proper aspect ratio (1.33:1), there would be black bars on the sides.
The new HD transfers for Godzilla and Godzilla Raids Again are shown this way. Toho's not that stupid. Let's hope Toei is not stupid, either.
Nickelodeon HD broadcasts their shows (mostly fullscreen) like this. Disney shows both proper fullscreen and HD shows. Cartoon Network, on the other hand, uses "forced HD," in which the sides of the fullscreen picture are stretched out to fit the HD picture. (Shows like the Total Drama series and perhaps Stoked were widescreen to begin with, but CN uses fullscreen transfers on their HD program, and you'd think they'd use HD transfers for those. Go figure.) The only CN show that's truly HD is Star Wars: Clone Wars. Grrrrr.
That's how Star Trek was Remastered Fullscreen with Black Bars on the sides. I'm sure when they Remaster Kamen Rider they will present it the way it was originally viewed. The one mistake i hope Toei doesn't do is overuse DNVR because that's what ruined the Star Trek Movies when they came out on Blu-Ray (at least that's what every Trekkie i know said) Made all the characters look like wax figures.

Hence why I said "both sides". But it was a joke anyway.

It'll probably be something like this:
HD!
God almighty, that's Simply Awesomeness, a rip would really be sweet, but if not, a dvd would be nice, I'd save all my money just for that.

So, any word on a raw yet? While I cannot promise anything as of now in terms of the full series, I can take the script from when we released the first episode way back when and re-time it to the new raw.

I hope this means we'll get Kamen Rider on Blu-Ray, as well as other older Toku shows in HD. What great news.

A comedian in every forum. I'm sure any Blu-Ray will keep the 4:3 blocking and that any HDTV 16:9 showing will be done in a way that makes Kamen Rider look like it was filmed in 16:9, as in not cutting off heads or anything important in a specific shot. They did a great job of that for the HD Seinfeld and Cheers (I know that the HD conversion for Kamen Rider won't be done by the same team as Seinfeld/Cheers. They were just the first examples that came to mind).

I apologize for not going through the entire thread, but just in case — and I've been meaning to post this for months — both KIKAIDA and KAMEN RIDER V3 are also getting the HD Remaster treatment (as well as KIKAIDA 01). Personally, I'm eagerly awaiting for BAROM-1, ARASHI, and ROBOT DETECTIVE to be remastered!

KIKAIDA
I like the live action version of Kikaider but i like the anime better since it is more faithful to the original manga by Shotaro Ishinomori.

I hate to break it to you, but Kikaider was always planned as a TV series. Ishinomori's own manga version was one of 12 manga adaptations made to support the series.
Either way, I prefer Ishinomori's manga to the anime.

Yes, as Ryuusei said, most of the live-action television series that were produced with his name attached, were developed for television — KIKAIDA grew out of a rejected plotline for the original KAMEN RIDER series. KIKAIDA was a television series first, and a manga second. I prefer the original live-action series to KIKAIDER: THE ANIMATION (although I watched it all and enjoyed it), because I saw KIKAIDA when I was a kid — and like a lot of people who grew up in Hawaii, dubbed "Generation Kikaida", that's what we prefer.

If you talking about 1971 Kamen rider in HD, you didn't mentioned that it's not running in 16:9 (4:3 because you'll see both window box on the left & right) unlike our present days to me. Imagine they running ala WWE HD style i mean added blurs in both window boxes especially when watching on wide screen TVs rather than Stretch.

I hated the ending of the live action version of Kikaider 01.
