Oh my! These spams and spywares have gone too far last 2 years.

http://forums.henshinjustice.com/showthread.php?t=11207

How did they got into our forums last 2 years? And are we now spam free?

SPAM messages are by little bots and spiders that go around the net and just post random stuff. Some bots and spiders are getting smarter and know how to by pass CAPTCHA while others can't.

Also this board allows guest posting in some forums so that doesn't help.

But anyway, you cant really control spiders and bots unless you get really good software that can filter bad spiders/bots from the good.

Softwares like adaware? What I mean is that, that thread was so full of them.

What...? Are you talking about adware?

Adware is what you download unknowingly on your system. That is mostly caused by advertisements. That is with the ads themselves and HJU would need to reevaluate where they getting their ad revenue sources from... or something.

Or block them from your system.

Nothing can be done.

Besides there's already a thread on this somewhere else. Why didn't you just ask that question in that thread then start a new one? Seems redundant.

Sounds good. I think I'll do that tomorrow.

Is this still a problem?

Is this still a problem?

Not at all, but what happened 2 or 3 years ago was so dangerous here in HJU. So many spams and spambots all over and made many heroes lose their HJU acounts because of those spams (not those who were banned but those who deleted their accounts for the spam attack).

If it's not happeing now, then it's not a big deal. It really depends on the host & what they can afford to do for the site to keep out the spy/adware things. So in other words.....Keith's fault. :P

Hope that they do not return, I hate those ads, they ended up Killing my PC once and I have to go to a nearby PC Shop and have those problems K.O.ed by reformating it:bawling:Aw! My files!

EDITIONS: It ain't KEITH's FAULT! It was because our board during that time was not yet as mature as those other boards. That means we are still susceptible to these nasty foes. Darn! It caused me (outside HJU) a lot of damage.

Mature or not, it still depends on the protection you have.

I... don't think there is one besides Google and Yahoo.

They should both be quite safe. Even the last one should be too.... I wonder what else it might be....

P-Chan.. please confirm.

Perhaps the faulty ad could be located and notified to your ad providers so they can look into it?

Of all the people that come through here every day, just these few people are having an issue. Are we sure it's even coming from here?

Vundo, or the Vundo Trojan (also known as Virtumonde or Virtumondo and sometimes referred to as MS Juan) is a Trojan horse (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Trojan_horse_%28computing%29) that is known to cause popups (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Popup_window) and advertising for rogue antispyware (http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Rogue_antispyware&action=edit&redlink=1) programs, and sporadically other misbehavior including performance degradation and denial of service (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Denial_of_service) with some websites including Google (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Google) and Facebook (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Facebook).

No were are not sure its from here. I have strong doubts that this sites ads are the problem and not from somewhere else.

Yeah that's what I thought. If they were from here, then wouldn't the 1000+ visitors a day be posting about it?

Yes it would be a much larger number of people affected

P-chan doesn't explore the threads enough to come & confirm this, so she probably won't see it, but I was in the 3-way conversation with her & Merk while talking about this & she was complaining about HJU giving her some bad junk through ads.

I don't get them because I have better adware/spyware/virus protection stuff than them, but I'm sure you can believe what she says.

It depends on the site protection & each person's individual protection they have, so that is why everyone isn't posting about it, because most people here have okay protection, but then there are some that just don't, or it doesn't work for them well.

I believe there was also a page in the rscc talking about this.

I don't think so. If you were right then people by the hundreds would be getting alerts. Most programs to block adware and such have alerts. Since it's just you few people I think there is another problem.

You mean Softwares like Lavasoft and Spyware Doctor?
